Bordiga is a historic Piedmontese distillery founded in Cuneo in 1888 by Cavalier Pietro Bordiga, a herbalist with extensive knowledge of Alpine botanicals and Eastern spices. For over a century, it has produced liqueurs and spirits using original recipes and artisanal methods passed down through generations. Many of the herbs and botanicals are gathered by hand in the Occitan Valleys and processed separately through slow maceration and distillation. Remaining true to its roots, Bordiga continues to use its traditional wood-fired still to create authentic specialities deeply connected to the Alpine region.
Produced entirely in Cuneo, an area renowned for the quality of its ingredients and its artisanal heritage, Gin Ciais Premium Smoke is part of Bordiga’s Premium Small Batch Gin range. This spirit represents the excellence of Italian craftsmanship. Produced in limited quantities using a traditional wood-fired copper still, it is made from a selection of fine botanicals, including juniper berries that are gently smoked before distillation. The process originated by chance when a batch of berries was accidentally left beside a charcoal kiln. The resulting smoky aroma impressed the master distillers, who decided to experiment with its use in gin. The result is a truly distinctive spirit, with a subtle amber hue, an intense spicy bouquet complemented by floral and citrus notes, and a fresh, well-balanced flavour with a distinctly smoky finish. It is ideal both for sipping neat and for creative mixology.
