Bordiga is a historic Piedmontese distillery founded in Cuneo in 1888 by Cavalier Pietro Bordiga, a herbalist with extensive knowledge of Alpine botanicals and Eastern spices. For over a century, it has produced liqueurs and spirits using original recipes and artisanal methods passed down through generations. Many of its herbs and botanicals are hand-picked in the Occitan Valleys and processed separately through slow maceration and distillation. Remaining faithful to its roots, Bordiga continues to use its traditional wood-fired still, creating authentic specialities with a deep connection to the Alpine region.
Produced entirely in Cuneo, an area renowned for the quality of its ingredients and its artisanal tradition. Monasticus is a bitter liqueur created through meticulous herbal research and inspired by the monastic tradition of classic Alpine bitters. This digestif brings together a harmonious selection of herbs, flowers and roots, giving it a unique and unmistakable aromatic profile. It is produced in strict accordance with Bordiga’s original recipes, perfected over time, using infusions and distillates made from fine spices and botanicals gathered mainly in the Maritime Alps. These precious ingredients are still hand-picked, naturally dried and carefully preserved by local mountain communities to safeguard their authenticity and quality.
